SPECIAL NOTE: In May 2010, Ward's Automotive Reports reclassified the Subaru Outback as a light truck; previously, it had been classified as an automobile. This reclassification was made retroactive to the introduction date of the vehicle in January 1995 and is reflected in Ward’s historical data on monthly sales, production, and inventories. However, to maintain consistency of the estimates of both automobile and light- truck output in the national income and product accounts (NIPAs), BEA plans to incorporate the vehicle reclassification in the next comprehensive revision of the NIPAs, scheduled for 2013.
