Per capita income maintenance

Income maintenance payments consists largely of supplemental security income payments, family assistance, food stamp payments, and other assistance payments, including general assistance.

This measure of income is calculated as the income maintenance payments to the residents of a given area divided by the resident population of the area. In computing per capita income maintenance, BEA uses the Census Bureau's annual midyear population estimates.
