Impact of Sequestration and Reduced FY 2013 Funding Levels on the Regional Input-Output Modeling System (RIMS II)

The impact of sequestration and reduced FY 2013 funding levels for the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) necessitate that the Bureau's RIMS II program be discontinued. RIMS II multipliers for 2011 were not released in September as previously scheduled. BEA will continue to accept orders for multipliers for 2010 and allow previous orders to be downloaded while FY 2014 funding is provided under a continuing resolution (through January 15, 2014). Should funding cut by the sequestration be restored in FY 2014 as proposed in the President's Budget, the Bureau would reinstate the RIMS II program.

BEA understands that all its analytical products and statistical programs are of high value to private and public sector decision makers, and has given careful consideration to program reductions in an effort to minimize their impact on data users.
