GDP and the Economy: Third Estimates for the Fourth Quarter of 2011 (PDF)
Real GDP rose 3.0 percent after rising 1.8 percent in the third quarter. Inventory investment turned up, and consumer spending and residential investment picked up. Federal government spending turned down, and state and local government spending decreased more.
Government Receipts and Expenditures for the Fourth Quarter of 2011 (PDF)
Net government saving increased $67.3 billion to –$1,176.6 billion. Net federal government saving rose $65.6 billion to          –$1,095.1 billion. Net state and local government saving rose $1.7 billion to –$81.5 billion.

BEA research separates spending by nonresidents traveling in the United States from spending by U.S. residents, providing a more detailed look at consumer spending.
U.S. International Transactions for the Fourth Quarter of 2011 and for 2011  (PDF)
The U.S. current-account deficit rose $16.5 billion to $124.1 billion in the fourth quarter, as the surplus on income declined and the deficit on goods and services increased. In 2011, the current-account deficit increased $2.5 billion to $473.4 billion.

State personal income growth ranged from 0.5 percent in Wisconsin to 1.5 percent in North Dakota in the fourth quarter of 2011. In 2011, growth ranged from 3.4 percent in Maine to 8.1 percent in North Dakota.
