Associate Director for Industry Economic Accounts
Carol Moylan has served as Associate Director for Industry Economic Accounts since 2011. She is responsible for the estimation and analysis of the industry economic accounts, including the input-output accounts, the gross-domestic-product-by-industry accounts, and travel and tourism satellite accounts. Prior to becoming Associate Director, she served for 11 years in the National Economic Accounts Directorate as Chief of the National Income and Wealth Division where she oversaw the production and analysis of the private portion of the national income and product accounts, including gross domestic product.
Ms. Moylan has received a number of awards for her management and leadership, including the Commerce Departmentís Gold Medal Award for her work on creating a prototype research and development (R&D) satellite account that explored the impact of treating R&D as investment, a Gold Medal Award for her work on developing GDP estimates for the U.S. territories of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and a Silver Medal Award for her work on improving the national accounts processing system. She is the author of numerous articles on the U.S. national accounts, on the R&D satellite account, and on measuring innovation and intangibles. She received her B.A. from Tufts University and M.A.s from both the University of Maryland and George Washington University.
