Use year-to-year percent changes to show changes from one entire year to the next. For example:

  • Residential investment increased 8.4 percent in 2003 after increasing 4.8 percent in 2002. (These percent changes may be found in tables 1 and 7 of the GDP news release and in table 1.1.1 of the NIPA tables on BEA’s Web site.)
