The estimates presented in the NIPA Table 2.4.5U are the most detailed time-series estimates available for personal consumption expenditures (PCE). For benchmark years (years ending in 2 and 7), however, more detailed estimates are available from BEA’s Input-Output (I-O) accounts. The I-O accounts are used to “benchmark” the time-series estimates of PCE and present more detailed estimates of the products that make up each PCE category.
