Do I need to mail a hard copy of the form if I submit the form via eFile?
No. A single submission is sufficient.
No. A single submission is sufficient.
All transactions should be reported on an accrual basis.
Report currency amounts in U.S. dollars rounded to thousands (omitting 000). For example, $1,455,328 should be reported as 1,455 and $2,328,596 should be reported as 2,329. Amounts less than $500 round to 0 and should, therefore, be omitted.
Estimates are acceptable when actual values are not available. When data items cannot be fully subdivided as required, report totals and an estimated breakdown of the totals.
No. Please report on a gross value basis. Sales are reported on Schedule A and purchases are reported on Schedule B of the BE-180.
Table 1 on page 4 collects sales and purchases information by individual transaction type for each type of service covered by the survey with a corresponding service code listed in column 1. For example, sales of financial management services are designated as service code 4. If you report any amount in column 3 or 4 of the table, and the combined total of those transactions listed exceeded $3 million (either sales or purchases), then enter the service code associated with that service under “Service Code” on Schedule(s) A, and/or B.
Complete pages 1 through 5 of the survey. If you do not check a box “yes” in Question 6 and/or 7, on page 8, and you do not wish to report on a voluntary basis on Schedule A through D then return the survey to BEA per the instructions on the cover of the form.
If your company was acquired by a U.S. entity, please complete the survey through question 4 on page 2 and include the name and address of the company that purchased your company.
If your company was acquired by a foreign entity, please contact our office at (202) 606-5588 to ensure that you accurately report transactions that occurred both before and after the acquisition date.
To report additional countries, please use an overflow sheet. If you received a BE-180 form in the mail, an overflow sheet should have been included. If not, overflow sheets can be downloaded at www.bea.gov/ssb/be180. In addition, reporters can send an email to be-180@bea.gov to receive an automated response with the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, which includes overflow tabs. Electronic filers can attach an overflow sheet to their submission by adding it to the appropriate schedule.
