On March 27 Brian Moyer departed BEA to become Director of the National Center for Health and Statistics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Bohman has been part of efforts to make BEA’s measures of industry GDP and state GDP timelier and to coordinate their release with the third estimate of national GDP. She also has worked to bolster the impact and the effectiveness of BEA research. And she has led the way in crafting a strategy to position BEA as an employer of choice for the years to come.

Before joining BEA, Dr. Bohman spent more than 20 years with the Department of Agriculture, leaving her imprint on research involving international trade, farm competitiveness, and data-driven policymaking, and serving as Administrator of the Economic Research Service.

A search for a permanent successor will begin soon.

BEA is one of the federal government’s leading economic statistical agencies and produces millions of official data points – national, regional, industry, and international – used by business leaders, policymakers, and Americans to make informed decisions. GDP, consumer spending, and personal income are among the principal economic indicators produced by BEA.
