U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services, June 2025
The U.S. goods and services trade deficit decreased in June 2025 according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau. The deficit decreased from $71.7 billion in May (revised) to $60.2 billion in June, as exports decreased less than imports. The goods deficit decreased $11.4 billion in June to $85.9 billion. The services surplus increased $0.1 billion in June to $25.7 billion.

The U.S. direct investment abroad position, or cumulative level of investment, increased $158.6 billion to $5.96 trillion at the end of 2019 from $5.80 trillion at the end of 2018, according to statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). It’s time for BEA’s annual update of gross domestic product and related statistics. That means when we publish second quarter GDP numbers July 30, we’ll also update GDP estimates for the first quarter of 2020 and the previous five years.

Real gross domestic product (GDP) decreased in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in the first quarter of 2020. The percent change in real GDP in the first quarter ranged from –1.3 percent in Nebraska to –8.2 percent in New York and Nevada.
