State Personal Income, Third Quarter 2019

State personal income increased 3.8 percent at an annual rate in the third quarter of 2019, a deceleration from the 4.4 percent increase in the second quarter. The percent change in personal income across all states ranged from 15.2 percent in South Dakota to 1.9 percent in West Virginia and Wyoming.

In 2018, personal income increased in 3,019 counties, decreased in 91, and was unchanged in 3, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Real Consumer Spending Rises in July

Personal income increased 0.1 percent in July after increasing 0.5 percent in June. Wages and salaries, the largest component of personal income, increased 0.2 percent in July after increasing 0.5 percent in June.

Current-dollar disposable personal income (DPI), after-tax income, increased 0.3 percent in July after increasing 0.4 percent in June.

State personal income increased 3.4 percent at an annual rate in the first quarter of 2019, a deceleration from the 4.1 percent increase in the fourth quarter of 2018. Personal income increased in all states except South Dakota. The percent change in personal income across all states ranged from 5.6 percent in West Virginia to -0.6 percent in South Dakota.

Real Personal Income for Metropolitan Areas, 2017

The percent change in real metropolitan area personal income ranged from 14.8 percent in Midland, MI to -5.9 percent in Enid, OK.

National Statistics Return to Normal Timetable in April

By the end of April, key national economic indicators will be on their original 2019 schedule, as the Bureau of Economic Analysis’ timetable of releases continues to recover from disruptions earlier in the year.

Personal income increased 0.2 percent in February after decreasing 0.1 percent in January. Wages and salaries, the largest component of personal income, increased 0.3 percent in February, the same increase as in January.

Personal Income Grows in All States in 2018

State personal income increased 4.5 percent in 2018, after increasing 4.4 percent in 2017. In 2018, personal income increased in all states and the District of Columbia. The percent change in personal income across all states ranged from 6.8 percent in Washington to 2.9 percent in Hawaii.
