As a result of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, which was effective February 1, 2020, statistics for the “European Union” grouping in BEA’s data products will exclude the United Kingdom beginning with February 2020 for monthly series, beginning with the first quarter of 2020 for quarterly series, and beginning with 2020 for annual series:
- U.S. international trade in goods and services, released jointly with the U.S. Census Bureau, (1) effective on April 2, 2020, with the release of statistics for February 2020, “European Union” in exhibits 14, 16a, 19, and Supplement exhibit 4 will exclude the United Kingdom and (2) effective on June 4, 2020, with the release of statistics for the first quarter of 2020, “European Union” in exhibits 20, 20a, and 20b will exclude the United Kingdom.
- U.S. international transactions accounts (ITAs), effective on June 19, 2020, with the release of statistics for the first quarter of 2020.
- Supplemental statistics to the ITAs on direct investment income and financial transactions for U.S. direct investment abroad and foreign direct investment in the United States, effective on June 19, 2020, with the release of the ITAs for the first quarter of 2020.
- Detailed annual statistics on trade in services, effective in June 2021 with the release of statistics for 2020.
- Detailed annual and quarterly statistics on direct investment by country and industry, effective in July 2021 with the release of statistics for 2020.
- Annual statistics on the activities of U.S. affiliates of foreign multinational enterprises (MNEs) and the activities of U.S. MNEs, effective in August 2022 and November 2022, respectively, with the release of statistics for 2020.
