Worldwide employment by U.S. multinational enterprises decreased 0.4 percent to 43.9 million workers in 2023 (preliminary) from 44.1 million workers in 2022 (revised), according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis on the operations and finances of U.S. parent companies and their foreign affiliates.

GDP Increases in First Quarter
Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 0.7 percent in the first quarter of 2017, according to the “advance” estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the fourth quarter of 2016, real GDP increased 2.1 percent.

Finance and Insurance Led Growth in the Fourth Quarter
Finance and insurance; retail trade; and professional, scientific, and technical services were the leading contributors to the increase in U.S. economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2016. Overall, 19 of 22 industry groups contributed to the 2.1 percent increase in real GDP in the fourth quarter.

A new report on the state-by-state economic impact of arts and cultural production will be released Wednesday, April 19, at 10 a.m. Eastern time by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

February 2017 Trade Gap is $43.6 Billion
