The U.S. current-account deficit widened by $25.8 billion, or 10.7 percent, to $266.8 billion in the second quarter of 2024, according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised first-quarter deficit was $241.0 billion. The second-quarter deficit was 3.7 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product, up from 3.4 percent in the first quarter.

The U.S. current-account deficit widened by $15.9 billion, or 7.2 percent, to $237.6 billion in the first quarter of 2024, according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised fourth-quarter deficit was $221.8 billion. The first-quarter deficit was 3.4 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product, up from 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter.

The U.S. current-account deficit narrowed by $1.6 billion, or 0.8 percent, to $194.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised third-quarter deficit was $196.4 billion. The fourth-quarter deficit was 2.8 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product, down less than 0.1 percent from the third quarter.

The U.S. current-account deficit narrowed by $16.5 billion, or 7.6 percent, to $200.3 billion in the third quarter of 2023, according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised second-quarter deficit was $216.8 billion. The third-quarter deficit was 2.9 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product, down from 3.2 percent in the second quarter.
